Basics Name: Westley Ethan Geiger Age/Birthdate: 17 / October 15, 1991 Sexuality: Heterosexual Alias/Codename: Well after the other kids in his class got to see his curse in action, he got stuck with The Snoozer. Which, you know, he’s not crazy about or anything, but it could be worse. Faculty: Magic Year: First Alliance: Band of Heroic Heroes, because he’s all about helping the helpless! Though, he’s not really that much help right now, with the randomly falling asleep. But it’s the thought that counts!
Skills Ever since he was hit by the curse his sister sent out his ability to summon almost any object has drastically been reduced. Where he once could summon his homework, a weapon, or even a pair of shoes, now he can only seem to summon stuffed animals, feather pillows, and bed time stories. While his parents are working on figuring out why his sister’s curse is sticking so well, he’s working on trying to make some sort of use of this ability. In his experience thus far, when he tries to summon something like a pair of shoes, the object he actually summons is still in that general family. As in if he was to try summoning his coat? He’d get his bathrobe. Sneakers = slippers, homework = storybooks, etc, etc. As for where the things he's summoning come from? Well before it was things he actually owned, and he'd just pull them from his room. But then the curse happened, and he thought he was still summoning his things and they were just changing, except a lot of his stuff is STILL THERE? Sometimes things do change, like his socks! All the time his socks disappear. But other things he can't explain where they came from. Stores, other students, maybe another dimension even? WHO KNOWS. And the items just sort of POP into existence when he summons them. While this on its own would be a bit troublesome, it would certainly be livable. However the added narcolepsy is not. It’s pretty awkward to fall asleep in the middle of class as it is, but imagine doing so right in the middle of answering a question. And it’s not as if he’ll just fall asleep once a day, oh no, it happens anywhere from 3 to 5 times a day. Unlike a normal narcoleptic, who generally only sleeps at most for a few minutes during these sudden attacks of sleep, Westley can be out for almost 10 minutes at most. Though it's more normal for him to be out for 3-6 minutes. An almost plus of these day time sleeps, though? He has vivid dreams, which he can recall in great detail. However they’ve destroyed his night time sleep. Westley sleeps in disruptive blocks, 2 hours max at a solid time. That is if he sleeps at all, because sometimes he gets struck in a pattern of insomnia. Very occasionally when he’s first coming too he’s unable to talk or move, this seems to happen more when he’s had a stressful day, and usually freaks him out. But the worst of it would be hypnagogic hallucinations, which are vivid dreamlike experiences and occur when he’s lightly dozing, or first falling asleep/waking up, and are often frightening. The thing that seems to most amuse people though is when he falls asleep while in the middle of a conversation and continues it while sleeping. He can never remember these events, which is just one of many reason he always has a recording device on him. A good way to know he’s about to fall asleep, he’ll start to lightly bob his head. It’s highly suggested you don’t stand too close to him once he’s out, because unless it’s one of the rare occasions in which he wakes up unable to move, he tends wakes up suddenly and usually sits up quickly. More often then not he is disorientated for a minute or two, and has been known to wave his arms around in a bit of a panic, or to summon stuffed animals and fling them all around at people.
Personality Westley is the type to go out of his way to give someone else a hand. If you needed the shirt off his back, he’d give it to you, because helping people is what being a hero is about! There’s also the part where he genuinely likes to help people and make their lives easier. He’s exactly the type who would help his neighbors carry in their groceries, save your kitten from a tree, help someone elderly/blind cross the street, etc, etc. Ever since he was cursed with narcolepsy he tries to be intelligent about what he does. Tries to avoid situations which could be death causing. As in if the activity could kill him should he fall asleep suddenly in the middle of it, he’s going to do his best to avoid it! Luckily it wasn’t a lesson he had to learn the hard way. After the first time he randomly feel asleep while in the middle of making dinner, he figured there were just some things he shouldn’t do at all, and some he shouldn’t do alone. Is fairly silly and has a good sense of humor. He has an 8 year old sister, who really likes spending time with him, firstly. Secondly, well he can summon fluffy pink bunny slippers, so what else is he going to do? If no one else will take him serious, well why should he? Not that he blames anyone, because really you just can’t take someone who summons footy pjs seriously. If he’s being honest though, he wasn’t really that serious before the curse either. It’s just more fun when you can laugh and make people laugh. Honestly making people smile is awesome. Plus he makes some pretty awesome faces. Is on the friendly side and genuinely enjoys being around and talking to other people. He tries to not be super judgmental, but sometimes when you’re a well known baddie? Well he won’t be going out of his way to talk to you, but that’s about it, actually. Or he might be a little scared of you. He's not super panicky, really, but he's not especially hard to startle either. Really angry people tend to make him a little.. nervous. He’s not a huge fan of violence, again mostly because it doesn’t seem like a very hero thing to do. If that’s what it comes down to, to defend the helpless, then that’s what it comes to. But he’s always happiest to try and find another means to handle the situation.
Appearance Westley is about 5'7 and of average weight. He has fairly dark, short but shaggy, hair, and dark brown eyes. You're just as likely to see him in a button up shirt and tie as you are a purple hoodie and jeans. He wears glasses about 1/3 of the time, usually black framed, occasionally red framed. About another 1/3 of the time he can be seen wearing sunglasses, most of which he's borrowed from his sister.
History The Geiger family had lived in Neopolis since the late 50’s, the Armstrong family since the early 70’s. Mitchell Geiger, aka Captain Voyager, has the power of temporal duplication (ability to bring past and future versions of oneself back to the present), and has been working as a hero since 20. Veronica Armstrong, Coruscate, is a gifted witch, her abilities/interest most dominate when it comes to fire. The two were wed, during a small ceremony, in 1984. This prompted the two to occasionally team up to work together. Then in 1987 they welcomed their first child to the family, Thomas Geiger. It wouldn’t be until he was 6 that they discovered he was gifted. Captain Voyager continued fighting crime, but Coruscate retired from actively fighting to raise Thomas. And a few years later they welcomed a baby girl into the family (3rd year cape, or graduated last year, depending on if I can con a friend into playing her). In 1991 Westley was born. Things went as things do for babies for the most part. Until one night when Westley was being put down for the night, and his favorite stuffed bear was still sitting in the car. His mother didn’t think much of it because he didn’t really fuss, and went to get him a bottle. When she came back, the bear was in the crib with him. Veronica was thrilled that one of her babies was getting her abilities. This would start a sibling rivalry between Westley and Thomas, except that Thomas would never vocalize why it was he continuously tormented Westley, even after the family discovered Thomas ability of power bestowal (his codename is The Presentor). And Westley was pretty excited when his parents brought home a new brother, one who wouldn’t be a big JERK, when he was four. Of course Patrick was just kind of squishy and smelt bad sometimes at first. But when he started crawling he got interesting. Especially since he started taking apart and reassembling appliances at 5, then started building lasers at 7. The whole family is pretty accustomed to Patrick looking at them like they’re idiots. And Westley was asking him for homework help sometimes when he was only 6. Plus it’s fun when he makes things explode in the back yard. All in all, Patrick is a MUCH better brother then Thomas. Started school not long after Patrick was born, attending obvious BHH leaning schools right from the start. He liked school, because he got to spend a bunch of time with other kids, but the actual class work was pretty boring. He much preferred the practicing he did at home with his mom, working on his summoning abilities. The last member to join the Geiger clan would be little Stephanie, when Westley was 9. It was pretty clear by the time she was three that she was going to be extremely gifted in magic. Just talking and she was already stringing together spells. This soon proved to be problematic for Westley, who is very obviously Stephanie’s favorite sibling. They practice magic together, and he would often stick around to play with her, so she got pretty attached to him. This wasn’t really a problem until Westley got a little older and hit high school. Suddenly he had less time to spend playing with her, and she got upset. One day, last year when Westley was 16 and Stephanie was 5, she asked him to play but he already had plans, so he told her he that and went on to get ready. She threw a temper tantrum, angry and tired of being ignored, which is when she cursed him. Unfortunately, due to the temper tantrum, they haven’t been able to figure out what exactly she said to reverse it. Since he was already in his final year at Promethean High, he refused to finish high school by the means of home school. Luckily most of the teachers were understanding and tried to help him out, though. In fact, it was one of them who gifted him with the recording device. He didn’t adjust too poorly to the curse, able to laugh about most of the things that happen, but it’s pretty embarrassing when he has a hypnagogic hallucination during class. Or when he wakes up and slams into someone and gives them a nose bleed. Now that he’s going to be attending a school not only with ELE-ers, but a bunch of kids he doesn’t know in general, he’s a little worried about the narcolepsy and how people will treat and accept him. But he’s mostly good humored about the situation, and hopes this will help.
Fun Stuff Aspirations: To not be cursed anymore! Help people. Make friends. Summon something useful if he’s got to be stuck with the narcolepsy curse. What would be the title of the comic book starring your character? The Snoozer’s Dreamland Adventures!
Concept Raised in a family of supers of all kinds, accidents were a daily occurrence for the Geiger clan. And while most of these accidents were quickly handled and fixed, the one that changed Westley’s life is still very much unhandled. His younger sister, angry because he was too busy to play with her, sent a curse flying his direction. Ever since then his summoning gift has gotten a little outrageous in a specific way, and he keeps falling asleep everywhere! |
